Melisa Galasso, CPA, is a Senior Manager in the Audit Professional Practices Department at Cherry Bekaert LLP.  In this role, she assists with technical issues and quality control of the firm’s assurance services practice. She also works in the firm’s training department developing Continuing Professional Education (CPE) ranging from newsletter articles to webinars. She monitors regulatory bodies for changes in auditing and accounting guidance and assists the Firm and its clients in implementing the updated guidance. Melisa received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and International Business and a minor in French from Georgetown University. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA), and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA). Melisa serves on the Board of NCACPA’s Charlotte Chapter and is chair of the A&A Committee for the NCACPA. She was recognized as a Super CPA by Virginia Business Magazine in 2007 and received the Women to Watch – Emerging Leader Award from the NCACPA and AICPA. She is a graduate of the 2014 class of the AICPA’s Leadership Academy. In 2016, she was honored as one of the Mecklenburg Times 50 Most Influential Women.  


Katie Tuite, CPA

An Audit Manager in Cherry Bekaert’s Richmond practice, Katie specializes in Education

& Not-for-Profit and Financial Services. Managing a wide range of clients, Katie ensures

a high quality audit and excellent customer service. She serves both private and public

companies, providing strategic business guidance and a comprehensive understanding

of client businesses and risks while providing value-added solutions.

Within her specialties of Not-for-Profit and Financial Services, Katie serves general

nonprofits, day and boarding schools and their related foundations, as well as SEC

registrants with SOX 404 & FDICIA compliance and non-SEC registrants, respectively.

As Manager, Katie's duties encompass planning, supervising and reporting; work on

financial statements and key audit areas; and ensuring regular communication between

clients and the engagement team. Clients depend on Katie for timely, practical guidance

on many technical accounting and compliance issues, such as implementation of new

standards, endowment accounting and more.
